Trogir was established at the end of the 3 rd or at the
beginning of the 2 nd century BC. Findings dating from the
year 2000 BC and with the constant development of 4000 years
represent Trogir nowdays as one of the most oldest
towns in Mediterranean.
Trogir's turbulent history and legacy of its stone
structures contributed to it becomming one of the UNESCO's
World Heritage sites. Its first pages were written
long ago by the Ilyrian, Greeks and Romans. |

You can feel the coolness of the sturdy walls and bastions,the
lush beauty of the cathedral, the mystique of the
streets and vaults, the harmony of color and from of the
paintings, miniatures and carving. In the quite of the
museums, treasuries, art colections and old libraries,
amidst the monuments in stone, you can follow the continuity
of living and man's creativity in this climate where the sun
and the sea, stone and nature, have merged with life. |

In the center most restaurants, besides standard European
cusine, serve fish specialities, grilled meat. The most
famouse of which is dalmatian " broded ", " pasticada ",
smoked ham - " prsut ". Croatia is famouse for its excellant
wines,which are the results of an ancient wine - growing
tradition. There are famouse red wines : Plavac, Dingac,
Postup. The best known wite wine are Grasevina, Rizling,
Traminac. As for spirits, Sljivovica, Travarica and Lozovaca
are recommended. Popular dessert drinks include Prosek and
Maraschino. |

During the summer season each caffe bar,
coctel bar work almost all night long. The best are in old
town. |
